Story
Narrator: In Padang, West Sumatra, there lived two childhood friends, Samsulbahri, the son of Sutan Mahmud Syah, and Sitti Nurbaya, the daughter of the wealthy merchant Baginda Sulaiman. They were always together and cared deeply for each other.
Samsulbahri: “Nur, why do you look so gloomy today?”
Sitti Nurbaya: “I’m having trouble with the math problems from school. I’ve tried so many times, but I still don’t understand.”
Samsulbahri: “Here, let me help explain. Once you get the method, the problems will be much easier.”
Sitti Nurbaya: “Thanks, Sam. You always help me.”
Samsulbahri: “Tomorrow we’re going to Mount Padang with Arifin and Bakhtiar. Want to come?”
Sitti Nurbaya: “I’d love to! I’ll ask Dad for permission first.”
Narrator: Without them realizing it, the friendship that had grown since childhood slowly blossomed into love. However, their happiness would soon be tested by circumstances they never imagined.
