Comic about warmth, with jokes
In the magical world of Valdoria, where Charmers subtly guide human couples toward love, master Charmer Kyle feels increasingly disillusioned with his role, viewing it as empty manipulation rather than true connection. While orchestrating the reconciliation of his milestone hundredth couple on Earth, he accidentally meets Veronica, a literature student, and experiences an instant, profound, and completely non-magical connection-something he has been forbidden from ever knowing himself. As Kyle secretly pursues this forbidden love, risking exile and the loss of his powers, he discovers through his wise Godmother, Seraphina, that he is the prophesied True-Heart Charmer, whose genuine, honest love does not weaken but actually refines his magic. Together, Kyle and Veronica must convince Valdoria's conservative High Council that their union represents not a betrayal but a new era of magic built on truth and empathy, ultimately bridging their two worlds in a revolutionary way.
THE MONGERING — PAGE 13: UNCLOAKING. A noir comic page in black-and-white with teal and amber accents, rainy noir cinematic look. Use the uploaded character reference for Douglas — a man with short dark hair and a beard, wearing a dark suit. 4 panels.

Panel 1: A coffee shop. Douglas and Lena across a table. He replays the neighbor's words for her, gently. Douglas (speech balloon): "Say it back to me. Exactly how she said it."

Panel 2: The uncloaking rendered visually: the neighbor's normal speech balloon — "It's not my fault, I'm just saying what I heard." — and beneath it a dark translucent echo-balloon, the undertone laid bare: the rumor with no source, the blame passed hand to hand, the envy underneath. Show the dark echo-balloon clearly.

Panel 3: Lena staring at the echo-balloon. Recognition, then anger, then grief. Lena (speech balloon): "I gave up my bakery over... gossip?"

Panel 4: Lena on the phone, standing tall for the first time in the issue. Lena (phone): "The Elm Street space — is it still open? ...Smaller? Good. I'll take smaller." Caption: "Not the door. A door."

No debería pasarme nada.

Entonces escuchó un crujido.

Se detuvo.

Otro crujido sonó detrás de ella.

—¿Hola?

No hubo respuesta.

—No…

—¿No tienes miedo? —preguntó Four finalmente.

—¿De qué?

—De los demonios.

—No especialmente.

—No.

—¿Un mercenario?

—Tampoco.

—¿Un mago?

Darius sonrió apenas.

—Algo parecido.

Four decidió no seguir preguntando.

No quería ofenderte.

—Yo… no sé.

Él volvió a sonreír.

—Entonces no saques conclusiones tan rápido.

No sabía cómo podía estar tan segura.

—No, gracias.

—Entonces pide agua.

—Todavía no lo he decidido.

—¿Cómo puedes viajar sin tener un destino?

—Es bastante sencillo. Caminas hasta encontrar algo interesante.

—Eso no es un plan.

—Funciona.

Four negó con la cabeza.

—¿Y de dónde vienes?

Darius apoyó un brazo sobre la mesa.

—De lejos.

—Eso tampoco es una respuesta.

—Entonces estamos empatados.

—¿Sola?

—Sí.

—Mala decisión.

Four apretó los labios.

—No tenía alternativa.

No respondió.

—Disculpad. No he podido evitar escucharos.

—¡Darius! ¿Qué significa todo esto?

Él no respondió.

—¡Otra vez!

Un joven atacó a su compañero.

Su golpe fue demasiado evidente.

El entrenador negó con la cabeza.

—¡Te he dicho cien veces que no anuncies tus movimientos!

—Darius.

—Eso no responde a mi pregunta.

—Entonces tendrás que hacer una mejor.

Varios aprendices soltaron risas nerviosas.

El entrenador no se rio.

—Si has venido a burlarte de mis alumnos, puedes marcharte.

Darius observó las espadas de madera.

—No he venido a burlarme.

—No exactamente.

—¿Qué has hecho?

—¡Otra vez!

El entrenador intentó detenerlo.

—Basta. Ya has tenido suficiente.

—¡No! Quiero aprender.

Darius lo observó.

—Bien.

—Has pensado en golpearme. No has pensado en qué harías si fallabas.

Darius no dijo nada.

Miró a Darius.

—¿Quién demonios eres?

Darius sonrió.

—Ya te lo dije. Soy Darius.

Comenzaron a caminar.

—Más despacio.

Obedecieron.

Primero aprende a no perder. Después aprende a ganar.

—He visto cómo se mueven.

Four no pudo evitar reírse.

—No.

—¡Suelta a esa persona!

—No.

—¿Y si no?

—Habla.

La mujer se acomodó la capa.

—Me llamo Seris. Y estoy buscando a alguien.

Darius cruzó los brazos.

BİRAZ KAYBOLABİLİR MİYİM?

Hayır! saklambaç oynamak yasak! Hayır! kaybolmak yasak! Hayır, hayır, hayır!
Fil Filo, ormanın içinden geçen nehrin kıyısında bir ileri bir geri yürüyordu. Su akıyor, yapraklar yüzüyordu. Filo'nun içini korku kaplamıştı. Hortumunu huzursuzca sallıyor, düşüncelerini susturmaya çalışıyordu ama başaramıyordu.
Filo, yemyeşil bir ormanda yaşıyordu. Ormanın en büyük ve güçlü hayvanlarından biriydi. Herkes yardım için ona koşardı. Filo cesur ve korkusuzdu. En azından herkes öyle sanıyordu.
Bu ormanda saklambaç oynamak yasaktı. Bir yerlere saklanmak, gözden kaybolmak bile… Çünkü ormanda yıllar önce yaşanan bir olay, herkesin aklında iz bırakmıştı.
Her akşam hayvanlar bir araya gelir, listedeki isimler tek tek okunurdu. Böylece herkesin orada olup olmadığına bakılırdı.
Filo'nun aklında başka bir şey vardı. O kaybolmak istiyordu ama bunu düşünmek bile onu korkutuyordu.
Akşam olmuştu. Hayvanlar her zamanki gibi büyük ağacın altında toplandı. Listedeki isimler tek tek okunmaya başladı.
“Tilki Tiftif!”
“Buradayım!”
“Tavşan Pofuduk!”
“Buradayım!”
“Sincap Çıtır!”
“Buradayım!”
“Kaplino!”
Sessizlik…
Bir süre beklendi ama ses gelmedi. İsimler okunmaya devam etti.
“Fil Filo!”
“Filo! Dolabımın en üst rafındaki kutuyu indirebilir misin? Merdivene çıkmaya korkuyorum.”
Filo, Tiftif'in evine gidip kutuyu indirdi.
“Teşekkür ederim, cesur Filo!” dedi Tiftif.
Filo yoluna devam etti.

“Filo nerede?”
“Filo'yu kimse gördü mü?”
“Yoksa o da mı koyboldu?”
Ormanda endişeli sesler yükselmeye başladı.

Hep birlikte Filo'nun evine gittiler. Kapıyı çaldılar ama açan olmadı. İçeri baktıklarında Filo'nun evde olmadığını gördüler.
Hayvanlar telaşlandı. Filo'yu bulabilmek için ormanın her yerinde onu aramaya başladılar.

O sırada Filo, ormanın dışında yürüyordu. Güneş yavaş yavaş batıyor, etraf kararıyordu. Yorulan Filo, çimenlerin üzerine oturdu. Etrafına endişeyle baktı. Bacakları titriyor, hortumunu huzursuzca sallıyordu.
Tam o sırada arkasından sakin bir ses geldi:
“Korkuyor musun?”
Filo merakla sordu:
“Yani oyununuz yarım mı kaldı?”
“Evet, oyunumuz yarım kaldı,” dedi kaplumbağa.
Filo'nun aklına bir şey gelmişti. Heyecanla kaplumbağaya döndü.
“Yoksa sen Kaplino musun?”
“Evet, ben Kaplino'yum.” Kaplumbağa şaşkınlıkla Filo'ya baktı.
“Peki, benim kim olduğumu nereden biliyorsun?”
“Benim yaşadığım ormanda saklambaç oynamak yasak. Kaybolmak bile yasak! Demek sen de orada yaşıyordun. Saklambaç oynamanın neden yasaklandığını şimdi anladım!” dedi Filo.
Kaplino şaşkınlıkla dinledi.
“Demek ben kaybolduktan sonra ormanda saklambaç oynamak yasaklandı,” dedi.
“Peki, neden geri dönmedin?” diye sordu Filo.

“O zaman biraz kaybolabilir miyim?”
“Elbette,” dedi Kaplino.

“Tilki Tiftif!”
“Buradayım!”
“Tavşan Pofuduk!”
“Buradayım!”
“Sincap Çıtır!”
“Buradayım!”
“Fil Filo!”
“Buradayım!”
Filo'nun sesini duyan hayvanlar şaşkınlıkla etraflarına bakındılar. Sonra onu görünce sevinçle yanına koştular.
“Filo, neredeydin sen?”
“Seni çok merak ettik!”
“Her yerde seni aradık!”

“Kaplino!”
Bir an sessizlik oldu.
Tam herkes sıradaki isme geçecekken bir ses duyuldu:
“Sobe!”
